Johann David Wyss

Johann David Wyss (1743 – 1818) was a Swiss author best known for his adventure novel “The Swiss Family Robinson.” He was born in Bern, Switzerland, and came from a family of pastors. Wyss had a strong interest in education and natural history, which is reflected in his writing.

“The Swiss Family Robinson” (Der Schweizerische Robinson in German) was first published in 1812 and has since become a classic in children’s literature.
