Harriet Jacobs

Harriet Jacobs, an African-American writer born into slavery in Edenton, North Carolina, is known for her autobiography, “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl,” published in 1861 under the pseudonym Linda Brent. Her book is considered an “American classic” and offers a firsthand account of her experiences, including the sexual harassment she endured from her enslaver.
