
Gaston Leroux
Gaston Louis Alfred Leroux (1868–1927) was a French journalist and author known for his detective fiction. He’s famous in the English-speaking world for “The Phantom of the Opera” (1910), adapted into numerous films and stage productions, including the 1925 film starring Lon Chaney and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1986 musical. He’s also renowned for “The Mystery of the Yellow Room” (1907), a highly regarded locked room mystery.
