One of Irving’s most famous works is “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” a short story published in 1820 as part of his collection “The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.” The story revolves around the eerie legend of the Headless Horseman and the bumbling schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, set in the quiet town of Sleepy Hollow.
